Sewing Saturday

Today I was home alone and that just creates a good sewing day. It was a beautiful day which is so encouraging after all this winter weather. Pretty weather just makes you want to accomplish something.

Now to the sewing or I should say embroidery. My niece has twin boys who are three. They go to nursery school a couple of days a week. The teachers have problems telling them apart and really like shirts with their names. This shows what you can do with plain cotton t-shirts and a little embroidery or applique. I hope they like them and I know their teachers will be happy.

Tempting Tuesdays

Do you remember Bubba in the movie Forest Gump? He names every shrimp dish there is and he knows everything about shrimp. In our state someone might meet a shrimp boat when they come in off the gulf and then sell the shrimp door to door. They will remember who buys and will contact you again when they are in your area. We bought these shrimp a while back and decided we wanted to have shrimp creole tonight. I must confess my husband bought a jar of creole sauce. All we had to do was peel and de-vein the shrimp and add to the sauce. You serve it over a bed of rice and it is delicious!!

Paci Clips

Paci clips are quite pricey when you buy them in a children's store and they are so easy to make. You can use a mitten clip or a covered button and add a clip. I used the covered buttons to make the ones for Andrew. All you need is ribbon, a covered button, fabric to cover the button, a clip and velcro. I monogram the fabric that I will use to cover the button. Then I sew the velcro on the ribbon that will be attached to the button. Leave enough room between the two pieces of velcro so the pacifier will fit. Cover your button and attach the ribbon. Lastly add your clip. I know that this might not make sense to some of you, but it is really very easy. Now the clips are in the mail and on their way to South Carolina.

Mondays and a Special Gift

I just love Mondays. I know it is because I am retired. I very seldom have any major responsibilities on Monday and there is a whole week ahead to accomplish whatever is needed. I can already hear the moans of some you and you are saying you don't want to hear it. I understand, I was where you are at one time. I do hope you have a good week.

I did want to share how you can take a simple outfit and make it into a special gift. Just add a name or appliqued initial. Anything personalized is nice for the baby. I think Abby is to make her debut in March.

Something for Victoria

I enjoy sewing for babies and children. My sister had requested that I make a baby gift for a friend's baby named Victoria. This is what I came up with and it is my first bib. I never can find the ones I like so I decided to make one. This one is reversible with embroidery on both sides.
