Stuart's Gifts

I enjoy making these burp cloths. They are just a bit dressier than the diaper ones and  I wanted to do something soft for a newborn. I am sure trucks, animals and other things are in the future.
Here is the gingham side of the bib with his paci clip. I just did the standard initial monogram.
 Everyone loves the boxers!

On the white side of the bib is an appliqued S in the blue gingham.

Baseball Bib and Burp

A friend had bought some outfits for Stuart and wanted a bib and burp to match. I found a cute baseball cap applique to use. I also made a paci clip to match. I am trying to train myself to look for designs that will work for little boys now. Stuart should be making his appearance any day and we are excited.

Smocked Day Gown

Years ago, I spent much of my time smocking. I made my daughters' dresses for Christmas and Easter. I would also make them for piano recitals and other special days. They quickly out grew that and I put my smocking away. I have made a few gifts and this is the latest one. This is a gift for a special little girl to be born in February. I hope her mommy likes it. It ties in the back and has a drawstring bottom.

Josie

Josie will make her appearance tomorrow, January 17. We are excited to welcome this great niece. I am sure she will be as sweet as this Lily Frog.

Her initials are so pretty together. I hope Josie's mom enjoys these and other goodies that are on their way to CO.

Diaper Bag

I bought this book a couple of summers ago. I love Amy Butler fabric and patterns. I thought this would be a great resource for baby gifts and now I am getting to use it for my grandson.

Here is the diaper bag with all the extra goodies I made to go with it. The pattern is found in her book shown above. My daughter picked out this Amy Butler print.
The bag is fully lined with pockets on both sides and a divider in the middle.
There is a pocket on the outside of the bag. Perfect place to put those extra things.
I also made a changing pad to coordinate with the bag. The pattern once again was taken from Amy Butler's book. One side is terry cloth and the other matching fabric.

The fabric I used for the following projects was bought at Hobby Lobby and matches the other perfectly. I love the wet bag. What a perfect place to put Stuart's wet clothing. This was made from a pattern that I found a Little Birdie Secrets. You can see it is lined with plastic.

Here is a cute bag from GG Designs Embroidery. I used this same in the hoop design for tissue cases for Christmas and now this one is for pacifers. Below is another in the hoop design from GG Designs Embroidery. This zippered bag holds wet ones. It is perfect to go in the bag and to identify Stuart's wipes.

You can see I have been busy sewing. I have enjoyed it very much, but it truly was a labor of love. Too much work for just anyone.

Owl Notecards

I wanted to make some owl note cards for my daughter. She likes them and has a cute owl in Stuart's room. I searched on etsy and found this cute design from the etsy shop, Tracy Digital Art. This site has so many cute designs.
I find the dimensions for the card I will be printing on and add the design and wording. It can be a bit tricky, but just have a little patience.
I wanted address labels to match. It took me a while to make the owl fit just right, but I finally did it. It just takes a little practice and you can make the cutest note cards for a fraction of the cost to have them printed.

Stay warm in this cold weather and find a project to work on.

A Rocker for Stuart

I shared earlier that our daughter will have our first grandchild in February. As the time draws near, we are getting excited to welcome Stuart in our family. Each of our daughters received a rocker from their grandparents one Christmas. We have kept both rockers for future grandchildren. We climbed in the attic during the holidays and brought Susan's rocker down to get it ready for Stuart. Yes, I know it will be quite a while before he can use it, but it will be special in his room.

I don't know why the rocker was never painted. I guess we just didn't take the time. I do know that the girls used them  a lot in their younger years.
Stuart's Pawpaw sanded and then painted the rocker

The rocker is all freshly painted. I guess when you are retired it is easier to take care of details like painting.
I added Stuart's name using vinyl letters that I cut with my cricut. Now his bear has a special chair.

While I had my cricut out I went ahead and added his name to a small trash can. We must try to make everything special. :)

Chancee

Your best advertisement is when your children give gifts to friends or co-workers. One daughter calls frequently to see if I will do an order for someone at school. This order was for a co-worker and all she specified was that the burps be done in pink and black. I wasn't sure if she wanted hot pink or soft pink, so I did a little of both.
I used a frame I had purchased and layered the black gingham with the
pink and black polka dot. I then added the C.

On one burp I just put Chancee's name and the other I used a font frame and added the C.

I appliqued a C and then stacked the name on top. The next one I layered black gingham on pink gingham.
Hope Chancee's mom likes her burps.
