Cinnamon Rolls

A friend shared her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks by Ree Drummond with me a week ago. After reading it, I had to buy one.
I like to read cookbooks and this one has such neat stories to go with the recipes.

I wanted to try the cinnamon rolls and made my list for the grocery store. I think the only thing I didn't have was maple flavoring for the icing.

This recipe made so many cinnamon rolls. I had 5 pie plates and a 9X13 pan full of rolls. I froze some and gave away 3 pie plates. I served the 9X13 while my family was home this weekend.

I hate to admit that my husband and I ate a plate of cinnamon rolls the day I made them. They were so delicious!
I look forward to trying many of the recipes in the future!

Stuart's First Visit

Stuart and his parents came to visit us this weekend. Stuart is our 7 week old grandson and this was his first trip. We anxiously awaited his arrival on Friday.

It was a beautiful day on Saturday. I wanted a picture of Stuart with flowers that came from his great-grandfather's flower bed many years ago. I am not sure what he thought about it.

Stuart met our dog, Coco. Coco was very curious and didn't like it when Stuart cried.

You can see that Stuart made his Pawpaw and Nana very happy this weekend. We are ready for another visit soon.

Olivia

Olivia is a little girl that was born in February. Her grandmother shared with me that her mom liked  the colors hot pink and black. This is what I made for Olivia and I had fun doing it.

I layered the black zebra print on the pink polka dot fabric. This is a burp I make and it is a bit dressier than the ones made with diapers.

Next, I made a reversible bib with one side being white pique and the other the zebra print.

Every little girl needs a diaper cover with her name.

I have a good friend who is putting ruffled ribbon on diapers and I wanted to try it. I loved it and now I am hooked! I am still gathering mine on my machine the old way. A ruffler foot is on the wish list.

I  bought some pails at Hobby Lobby at the end of last summer and I thought how cute for Olivia's room. I decided to use it as a gift bag. Her mom liked all the goodies and that makes me happy.

Have a great weekend!

Burps for Baby Baker

People often call and say they need a burp cloth, but the parents are not finding out the gender of the baby and that means no name. This time I took the last initial and appliqued it on the diaper. I added the same fabric at the bottom of the diaper and then added the jumbo rick rack.

For the second burp, I used green gingham and ribbon. I added the name in matching thread to personalize the item.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I enjoy having people over and I like trying to set a pretty table. I am not very creative, but I have fun trying.
A couple of weeks ago I had some young women and their daughters over. I love the color green and I thought about St. Patrick's Day so I served potato soup, hot ham sandwiches and cupcakes. We enjoyed ourselves and that is what is important.
I used what I had and could get easily for my tablescape. Green salad plates are on my wish list.

I put green apples in my bowl and that made a festive piece for part of the table.

I have a little matching teapot that I used for the fresh flowers. The flowers came from a yard and made for a sweet arrangement.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
